Guard Ashley Chevalier joins Cougars after time with Texas Tech, Texas
HOUSTON – Houston Women's Basketball Head Coach Ronald Hughey announced the signing of Ashley Chevalier, a transfer from Texas Tech, on Thursday.
A 5'7 guard from Chatsworth, Calif., Chevalier joins the Cougars after spending two seasons at Texas Tech, where she started in 23 games and appeared in 33 during the 2023-24 season. She ranked fourth on the team with a career-high 35 steals and 41 assists for the season.
'Ashley is what you call a pass first point guard that can also score," Hughey said. "She is also a vocal leader that leads from the front with passion and energy. We are extremely excited to have Ashley join our Coog family."
Before playing in Lubbock, Chevalier started her collegiate career at Texas, spending two seasons in Austin, where she made 35 appearances with a pair of starts during her freshman year. The guard saw action in three games during the Longhorns' 2021 Elite Eight run.
In her prep career, Chevalier attended Sierra Canyon High School, where she averaged 11.7 points per game and 4.3 assists per game as a senior to help her Sierra Canyon team earn the No. 1 seed in the Southern Section Open Division playoffs. Chevalier was the No. 86 overall player by espnW HoopGurlz and the No. 27 player at the point guard position.
