Cryer scores 24 and Roberts records fourth double-double in 78-65 loss
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Senior guard LJ Cryer scored 24 and senior forward J'Wan Roberts recorded a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds as the No. 4 University of Houston Men's Basketball Program fell to No. 8 Kansas inside Phog Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars (19-3, 6-3) got out to a slow start as the Jayhawks (18-4, 6-3 Big 12) opened a 23-11 lead. Johnny Furphy scored 14 of his 17 points in the first half to help Kansas take a 43-28 lead into the locker room.
The Cougars were led by sophomore guard Emanuel Sharp with eight points and Roberts with seven points in the first half. Sharp finished the game with 11 points.
• Following Saturday's game, the Cougars return to Fertitta Center to host Oklahoma State at 6 p.m., Feb. 6. That game will air on ESPN2.
• The Cougars take on Cincinnati at 3 p.m. (CST), Saturday, Feb. 10, inside Fifth Third Arena in Cincinnati. That game will air on ESPN or ESPN2.
• All Houston Men's Basketball games can be heard on 950 AM KPRC and the Varsity Network app.

Kansas extended its lead to 20 in the second half, but behind 17-straight points from Cryer, Houston cut the lead down to 10, but could not get any closer.
