Cougars play first three game series on the road in final weekend before conference play
COMMERCE, Texas – The University of Houston Softball team travels to Texas A&M Commerce for a three-game weekend series at John Cain Family Softball Complex.
The Cougars (12-5) are coming off a heartbreaking 6-5 loss to McNeese on Wednesday in the longest game in program history at 13 innings and four hours and 13 minutes.

- Houston joined the Big 12 Conference on July 1, 2023. The 2024 season marks Houston's inaugural softball season in the conference, with the team's first Big 12 game coming on March 8 at home against Texas.
- Houston's 94 runs tied the program record for most runs through the first 11 games, originally set in 2014.
- The team posted their best 11 game start (10-1) since 2008 when the program went 11-0.
- Bree Cantu's 25 RBIs so far this season rank seventh in the country and second in the Big 12.
- The Cougars rank 21st nationally in scoring (6.94).
- Shelby Smith ranks 10th in the country with six wins while Kennedy Thomas sits at 6th in 'toughest to strike out' and 25th with 23 hits and Jazmyn Rollin is 21st with two tri-ples.
- Houston is playing its first three-game series of the season after opening with three weekend tournaments (two at home, one in Baton Rouge).
- Houston played the longest game in program history in both innings and duration on Feb. 28 against McNeese. At 13 innings and four hours and 13 minutes, the game bested the previous marks of 12 innings vs. DePaul on March 22, 2005 and three hours and 57 minutes at Wichita State on April 14, 2023.
