PREVIEW: Houston Hosts #5 Texas on Wednesday

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball program is back at home as it welcomes #5 Texas in its lone regular season meeting at 7 p.m., Wednesday in Fertitta Center.

The first 400 fans in attendance will receive a free pink rally towel and can also enter a special raffle by donating a minimum of $5 towards Play4Kay. Students in attendance will receive free pizza and laptop stickers while supplies last. Students can also enter a special raffle to win a pair of Jordans.

TODAY'S GAME

Houston and Texas meet for the 55th time in program history.
Texas leads the all-time series, 3-51.
This marks the first meeting between Head Coaches Vic Schaefer and Ronald Hughey.
Wednesday marks the lone meeting between the Cougars and Longhorns as members of the Big 12 Conference as Texas makes the move to the Southeastern Conference for the 2024-25 season.
Prior to the 2023-24 season, Houston and Texas hadn't played a game against each other since the 1999-00 season.
In its most recent meeting, Texas defeated Houston in Austin, 85-61 (Dec. 27, 1999).
The Cougars are in search of their first win against Texas since Houston the 1998-97 season as it enjoyed a 61-52 victory in Hofheinz Pavilion (Nov. 18, 1998).
Texas is the first Top-Five ranked opponent to play at Fertitta Center since #4/6 UConn during the 2019-20 season (L, 92-40, Feb. 29, 2020).

LAST TIME OUT

Despite outrebounding Kansas, the Cougars fell against Kansas, 69-52, on Thursday inside Allen Fieldhouse.
Senior guard Laila Blair chipped in 18 points, while junior forward Maliyah Johnson recorded 11 points and seven rebounds. Senior forward Peyton McFarland recorded nine points and nine rebounds, just shy of a double-double.

Houston has three Cougars in the 1,000-point club: Laila Blair 1,495; N'Yah Boyd 1,161; Patterson 1,032.
Graduate guard Britney Onyeje (933) is 67 points away from reaching 1,000 career points with Houston.
Blair is five points away from reaching 1,500 career-points, moving her to ninth-all time in program history.
Both Onyeje (201) and Laila Blair (183) have their eyes set on the Houston all-time three-pointers made record of 226 set by Brittney Scott (2007-11).
Onyeje is second all-time on the three-pointers made list, surpassing Chandi Jones (188, 2000-04).
Blair sits at fifth all-time on the three-pointers made list, will take sole possession of fourth with three made three-pointers.
