Cougars return to Fertitta Center with a 1 p.m. tipoff against Lady Lions
HOUSTON – Following three games on the road, the University of Houston women's basketball program returns to Fertitta Center as it hosts Southeastern Louisiana at 1 p.m., Sunday, for its 713 Day/Coogs Give Back game.
Fans can earn free admission to Sunday's match by donating to the team's annual food drive/clothing drive. Fans 12 and under can enjoy a postgame meet and greet with select players on the court.

THE GAME
- Houston and Southeastern Louisiana meet on Sunday for the ninth time in program history.
- The Cougars lead the all-time series, 8-0.
- Houston's last win against the Lady Lions resulted in a 78-65 victory for the Cougars (Nov. 9, 2019).
- Both programs were scheduled to meet on Dec. 29, 2021, but the game was canceled due to health and safety protocols within the Houston Women's Basketball program.
- Coach Ronald Hughey has won the last two meetings against the Lady Lions and has a 1-0 advantage over Head Coach Ayla Guzzardo.
- Laila Blair moved into fourth place in program history in points, and graduate guard Eylia Love recorded a double-double as Houston fell against UT Arlington, 61-57, on Wednesday evening inside College Park Center.
- Blair scored 18 points against the Mavericks, bringing her career total to 1,685, surpassing Courtney Taylor's (2007-11) 1,684 career points.
- Love recorded her second double-double of the season and the fourth of her career with 17 points and 13 rebounds.
- Houston returns All-Big 12 Conference Honorable Mention selection Laila Blair for the 2024-25 season.
- Blair reached 200 career 3-pointers vs. Minnesota (Nov. 29).
- The Cougars return five players from the 2023-24 roster: Kierra Merchant, Gigi Cooke, Laila Blair, Avalon Miller and Peyton McFarland.
- Houston welcomes transfers Leilani Augmon (Troy), Summer Bostock (Maryland), Ashley Chevalier (Texas Tech) and Eylia Love (Louisville) to the squad this season.
- Redshirt senior forward Avalon Miller (Achilles), senior guards Maliyah Johnson (ACL) and Kateri Poole (ACL) will miss the season after suffering season-ending injuries.
- Assistant Coach Chynna Grimes will miss the first two months of the season after the arrival of her daughter, Capri, on Nov. 4.
