Soccer Signs Four on National Signing Day

A pair of midfielders and forwards sign with the Cougars
HOUSTON – University of Houston Soccer Head Coach Jaime Frias announced the addition of four student-athletes to the 2025 squad on Tuesday. Madyson Bentil, Amaris Bumba, Samira Minor and Nadia Ortiz will join the Cougars as freshmen for the 2025 season.
"We are extremely excited for this group of young women to join our program," said Frias. "We were selective in the recruiting process and knew the qualities we were targeting in the 2025 class. All the incoming players are skilled, have good game understanding, competitive and great teammates."
"What stands out the most about this group though, is their drive to win in everything they do. We are looking forward to having them join our team in the fall of 2025."
Madyson Bentil | Midfielder | Loganville, Ga. | Concorde Fire SC
Previous Athletic Experience: Played three years of soccer for the Loganville Red Devils… Named Region Player of the Year.
Personal: Daughter of Rob and Maya Bentil… Has two brothers, Adrian (21) and David (12) ... Enjoys playing pickleball… Has career ambitions to be an anesthesiologist.
Amaris Bumba | Forward | Raleigh, N.C. | N.C. Courage
Previous Athletic Experience: Tabbed the 2020-21 Offensive Player of the Year and the 2022-23 MVP… Appointed Team Captain in 2022… Won the National Homeschool Championship in 2020 and 2022 and was named MVP on both occasions… Was a three-time member of the Olympic Development Program South Region Team… Tallied 80 goals and 48 assists in high school.
Personal: Daughter of Amboka and Annie Bumba… Has a sister, Andrea and brother, Antoni… Member of the National Honor Society, Key Club and Robotics… Has career ambitions of being a mechanical or aerospace engineer… Lists sister as biggest influence.
Samira Minor | Forward | Frisco, Texas | FC Dallas
Previous Athletic Experience: Earned Bi-District Finalist three times at Frisco Independent School District… Named Defensive Player of the Year… Played four years of varsity basketball and two years of varsity track and field/cross country.
Personal: Daughter of Obrey and Shaunte… Has three siblings, Obrey II (20), Sanai (19) and Orlando (15) … Dream job is to play professional soccer.
Nadia Ortiz | Midfielder | Trophy Club, Texas | FC Dallas
Previous Athletic Experience: Played four years of varsity soccer at Byron Nelson High School, making it to the Regional Semifinals in 2022 and the Regional Quarterfinals in 2023… Named the Offensive Player of the Year and First Team All-District as a freshman… Tabbed Midfielder of the Year and First Team All-District in 2023.
Personal: Daughter of Eric and Jessica… Has a brother, Jake… A member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes… Plans to become a physical therapist and play soccer overseas after graduation.
