PREVIEW: Volleyball Faces Ranked Tests in #20 Utah, #24 BYU

HOUSTON – The University of Houston Volleyball team wraps up a three-match homestand as a pair of ranked opponents visit Fertitta Center this week. The Cougars first battle #20 Utah at 7 p.m., Thursday, before hosting #24 BYU at 2 p.m., Saturday.

Thursday is Coogapalooza, Houston's Student Appreciation match. The first 50 students in attendance will receive a Houston Tumbler and raffle prizes between sets for Houston students.

The Cougars will black out the Fertitta Center on Saturday, with the first 250 fans receiving black t-shirts. Fans can also take advantage of post-match autographs with the team as well as a family ticket package, with four tickets, four hot dogs and four drinks available for just $40 (tickets must be purchased by 10 a.m. Saturday).

Graduate libero Kate Georgiades ranks second in the Big 12 Conference, first in the state of Texas and 17^th nationally with 5.01 digs per set. She's also tallied 26 consecutive matches with double-digit digs.
Graduate setter Annie Cooke is moving up multiple program career record lists. She currently sits in third in service aces (138) and in assists (3,740) in the all-time rankings. She's also played in the fourth most matches (134) and third most sets (494) in program history.
Georgiades is also making moves on Houston record lists. She currently ranks third all-time in digs (2,191) and eighth in aces (107).
Among active NCAA Division I players, Georgiades' collegiate career mark of 2,451 digs is the third most, ranking first among Texas schools and in the Big 12 and sits at seventh across all NCAA divisions. Her 4.71 digs per set average is 10th among active NCAA Division I players, leading the Big 12 while ranking third in Texas.
Houston faces one of the toughest schedules in the country having played six matches so far this season against AVCA ranked teams with another two this week and potentially two next week.
Freshman Lily Barron ranks 25^th in the nation and first in the Big 12 with 0.48 aces per set.
