Swimming & Diving’s Cullen Named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week

Freshman posted the seventh fastest time in program history in 100-yard backstroke at Rice Fall Splash
HOUSTON – University of Houston Swimming & Diving freshman Lottie Cullen was named the Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.
Cullen took the top spot in three events as well as a pair of second place finishes at the Rice Fall Splash. She touched the wall in 54.50 in the 100-yard backstroke, making the seventh fastest time in Houston's history. The Belfast, Northern Ireland, native also helped take first place in the 400-yard medley relay (3:43.59) and the 200-yard medley relay (1:43.34).
Adding to her impressive weekend, Cullen also finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:35.71) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:59.92).

Houston returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 24, for a dual meet against Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.
