PREVIEW: Women’s Basketball Begins Road Trip at #11/12 Kansas State

MANHATTAN, Kan.– After opening Big 12 Conference play at home, the University of Houston Women's Basketball program heads on the road for its first conference road test of the season at #11/12 Kansas State at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday inside Bramlage Coliseum.

THE GAME

Houston heads to Manhattan, Kan., for its first Big 12 Conference road trip against #11/12 Kansas State.
The Cougars and Wildcats face meet for the third time in program history; second meeting in Manhattan.

Kansas State is Houston's first opponent this season that is ranked in either poll (AP Poll/USA Today Coaches Poll.
In last year's matchup, senior Laila Blair led Houston with 16 points as the Cougars dropped a 73-59 decision against Kansas State (Dec. 4, 2022).

LAST TIME OUT

In its inaugural game in Big 12 Conference action, the Cougars dropped a 79-71 decision against Texas Tech inside Fertitta Center on Saturday.
Graduate Bria Patterson led the team in points as the forward tied her season-high with 19. Three other Cougars scored in double figures with 16 points from junior forward Maliyah Johnson, graduate guard N'Yah Boyd added 12 points and Blair finished with 10 points.
After a slow start in the first quarter, Houston would outscore Texas Tech in the remaining three quarters.

Graduate forward Bria Patterson (980) is 20 points away from reaching 1,000 career points with the Cougars.
Graduate guard N'Yah Boyd reached 1,000 career points against Texas A&M-Commerce with her first career double-double (12 points,10 rebounds).
Both Britney Onyeje (188) and Laila Blair (160) have their eyes set on the Houston all-time three-pointers made record of 226 set by Brittney Scott (2007-11).
A season after being the shortest team in the league and relying on its full court press to make teams uncomfortable, the Cougars are the 11th tallest team in the league this year an average height of 5-11.
