Exciting game day elements, enhancements on tap for inaugural Big 12 season
HOUSTON – As University of Houston Football opens its inaugural Big 12 Conference season this fall, fans can expect a number of noticeable and exciting differences at TDECU Stadium including 88 new points of sale, new concessions as well as walk-thru markets.
For the first time, fans sitting in the 300-level can take advantage of added walk-thru markets and seven portable food stations including Chick-fil-A and Antone's Famous Po'Boys. Fans will also see a drastic increase in beverage hawkers around TDECU Stadium with a particular emphasis in upper-level seating. A season ago, an average of 10 Hawkers, selling primarily water and beer, covered the entire facility. In 2023, the number will increase to approximately 35 or 40.
"We've been working diligently to prepare for a new set of opponents and larger crowds inside TDECU Stadium this fall," Vice President for Athletics Chris Pezman said. "We've considered everything from the time you leave your house, to traffic and parking recommendations, to gate entrances and number of concessions stands. We want to create an environment everyone is excited to come back to game in and game out."
A host of new concession partners can also be found inside TDECU Stadium including:
New walk-thru contactless markets will be available at Stands 125 and 133 and feature Antone's Famous Po'Boys among other offerings. Fans can also find new walk-thru contactless express stations on Levels 2 and 3. In total, Houston has increased its points of sale from 101 a season ago to 189 during 2023.
Fans should pre-plan for cashless parking and a new, easy-to-use, text-to-pay service from UH Parking and Transportation Services. Numerous ungated surface lots have also been added to greatly expand fan parking options. Fans can learn more about text-to-pay parking by clicking here.
The lone cash-pay parking option will exist in the Gateway Garage located at 4259 Martin Luther King Blvd.
Over the last several months, Houston Athletics engaged parking and traffic management consultants, Walter P Moore, to produce a traffic and parking management plan in anticipation of larger crowds at TDECU Stadium. The plan, which will be detailed to fans through separate correspondence in coming days, will feature recommended routes and an improved parking strategy, among other information.
Fans can take advantage of complimentary METRO rides on the red, green, or purple lines to and from all Cougar home Football games during the regular football season with proof of a game ticket or student identification.
To reduce wait times and enhance the guest experience, updated security screening equipment and additional ticket scanners have been added to expedite entry into TDECU Stadium. With season ticket records falling, Houston Athletics is expanding Gate 1 and Gate 2 entry points and implementing gate equipment and staffing plans in anticipation of sellout crowds.
Fan Fest at Cougar Alley, located adjacent to TDECU Stadium along Cullen Blvd., will be the place to be pregame. Take in the excitement of the college football season by watching the game's best games on a huge LED television and take part in interactive activities. Food trucks will be on site and Fan Fest will feature a picnic area for consumption. To learn more about your own turnkey tailgating opportunities within Cougar Alley click here, email uh@tailgate-express.com or call 281-407-4788.
To provide additional premium offerings, 10 new suites have been added on Level 2 at TDECU Stadium, including five on the East side and five on the West side. To repurpose previously unutilized space, two private club locations – a Terrace East Club and Terrace West Club – are new to TDECU Stadium in 2023. The open-air, covered spaces, located on the press box level (Level 3) offer a unique field view and enhanced premium experience.
