Soccer Travels In-State for Thursday Match

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The University of Houston Soccer program will head out for another non-conference road match to face Stephen F. Austin at 7 p.m., Thursday, at SFA Soccer Field.

ABOUT THE COUGARS

Houston is in its second season under Head Coach Jaime Frias.
The Cougars are 1-0-1 on the season.
In its last match, Houston defeated Southeastern Louisiana, 5-2, behind goals from Kyrsten Kizer, Caitlyn Matthews, Sofia Weber and Nadia Kamassah at the Carl Lewis International Complex.
Houston Head Coach Jaime Frias spent three seasons as head coach at Stephen F. Austin (2005-07) and was named the 2005 Southland Conference Coach of the Year.
In six total seasons with the Lumberjacks (2002-2007), including three as an assistant, the program won four Southland Conference titles and advanced to two NCAA Tournaments

Stephen F. Austin is in its fourth season under Head Coach Tony Minatta.
The Ladyjacks are 1-1 on the season.
Stephen F. Austin earned a 1-0 victory against Tulsa in its last match. The lone goal of the game was an own goal by Tulsa.

HISTORY WITH THE LADYJACKS

The Cougars lead the series, 5-4-2.
In the last meeting against Stephen F. Austin, Houston earned a 4-4 draw in double overtime at the Carl Lewis International Complex (Aug. 26, 2021). Caitlyn Matthews, Zionah Browne and Madison Gear each posted a goal in the match, along with an SFA own goal.

UP NEXT
Houston will close out its August home slate at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, as it hosts Tarleton State for Dads & Daughters Day. The match will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+, with live stats available here.

Fans should note earlier start time from earlier published schedules. Sunday's match was moved up due to expected high temperatures in Houston.

The Cougars will remain in Houston as they travel to Holloway Field to face Rice on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m.

Mobile tickets can also be purchased at game time at the ticket booth located at Schroeder Park (baseball), adjacent to the Carl Lewis International Complex.
