SERIES HISTORY. This series weekend series will be the 27th overall meeting between the two teams. Last year, Houston swept the series in Tampa, Florida and the Cougars are on a four-game win streak. In conference play, Houston leads the series at 15-10.
LAST TIME OUT. Houston evened the Don Sanders Cup at 1-1 against Sam Houston State. The Cougars took a monumental 14-3 win scoring four runs in the fifth inning followed by six runs in the fifth inning.
TEAM UP WITH TODD. All three games against South Florida, the Cougars are supporting head coach Todd Whitting and his fight against Leukemia & Lymphoma in honor of his younger brother Ryan Whitting. Former Cougar, David Murphy, was also diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia during his freshman year in 2009. Fans who donate $50 or more to Whitting's case will receive up to four general admissions tickets this weekend.
TWO-OUT MAGIC. Against Wichita State, Houston scored all of its 17 runs with two outs including 13 in the top of the 7th inning. During the seventh inning, Houston batted for 41 minutes and had 13 batters faced. With two outs, the Cougars tallied six hits, four extra base hits, two hit by pitches, three walks and two home runs.
HONOR ROLL. Junior catcher Anthony Tulimero had a standout weekly performance leading the conference in hits (10), RBI (8) and runs (7). Against Rice, he had a career high two home runs and four RBI while tying his career high in runs at three. He was named to the American Honor Roll on Monday.
DOUBLE PLAY. After turning three double plays against Rice and two against SHSU, the Cougars are ranked 12th in the nation for double plays with 30 on the season as well as being No. 21 in double plays per game.
REACHING SAFELY. Zach Arnold and Justin Murray are both on a 29-game reached base streak. Arnold has reached in every game that he has played this season while Murray's dates back to the second game of the season against Cal on Feb. 19.
400 WINS. With the 14-3 win against Sam Houston State, head coach Todd Whitting secured his 400th career win.
FLORIDA NATIVE. Three players come from USF's native area including Nick Collins, Jack Duffy and Tyler Gray.
