De La Fuente Continues to Lead Men’s Golf at Cabo Collegiate

Junior tied for eighth at 141 entering Tuesday’s Final Round
CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico & SUGAR LAND, Texas – University of Houston junior Santiago De La Fuente fired an even-par 71 and finished the Second Round of the Cabo Collegiate in a tie for eighth at 141 at Twin Dolphin Club on Monday afternoon.
Starting his day off No. 10 on the 7,156-yard, par-71 course, De La Fuente birdied two of his first five holes and added his final birdie of the day at No. 2 to record his team-leading 16th sub-par round in 19 total rounds this season.
Sophomore Wolfgang Glawe recorded the team's low round of the day with a 69. The St. Leon-Rot, Germany, native began his day off No. 11 and quickly moved into red numbers with a birdie on the par-5 13th hole.
Following two birdies in a three-hole stretch from No. 18 to No. 2, Glawe added six more pars to surge into a tie for 15th at 142.
As a team, the Cougars bettered their First-Round score by eight strokes and were tied for ninth with #23 Baylor at 584.
Redshirt freshman Ruben Lindsay was tied for 54th at 150 while senior Austyn Reily stood in 58th at 152. Super senior Campbell Gibson was tied for 62nd at 154.
#1 Vanderbilt held the Second-Round lead at 553 to finish 13 shots ahead of #44 Mississippi. #2 Texas Tech (567), #3 Arizona State (568), #48 Arkansas (578), #9 Florida State (579), #19 Arizona (580) and #4 Stanford (580) rounded out the Top 10.
Individually, Vanderbilt teammates Wells Williams and Matthew Riedel were tied atop the leaderboard at 6-under 136. Texas Tech's Matthew Comegys stood in third at 138 while Vanderbilt's Gordon Sargent was in fourth at 139.
HCU-COLIN MONTGOMERIE INVITATIONAL
Senior Marcus Wochner led four Cougars competing as student-athletes at the HCU-Colin Montgomerie Invitational, tying for fourth at 6-under 138.
Starting his day off No. 14 on the 7,154-yard, par-72 course at Sweetwater Country Club, made three straight pars before making birdie on the par-4 17th hole.
After battling through a bogey on No. 2, the Holte, Denmark, native sank three straight pars on Nos. 5-7 and added back-to-back birdies on No. 11-12 for a First-Round 68.
After posting a 73 in the morning, super senior Braxton Watkins posted six birdies in the afternoon on the way to a 68 and was tied for 17th at 3-under 141.
Sophomore Drew Murdock enjoyed a 69 in the First Round and was tied for 19th at 142. Overcoming a slow start off No. 16 with bogeys on Nos. 17-18, Murdock drained four birdies in a 6-hole stretch on Nos. 1-6.
Following his final bogey of the round at No. 12, the Houston native made eagle on the par-5 15th hole.
Redshirt freshman Bryant Hiskey enjoyed consecutive rounds of 72 and was tied for 23rd at 144.
Tarleton's Jack Anderson held the first-day lead at 134 while Nicholls' Ryan O'Neil stood in second at 135.
