Cougars tip off at 11 a.m., Sunday, inside FedExForum
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Winners of its last 10 games, the #1/1 University of Houston Men's Basketball program closes its regular-season schedule when it meets Memphis at 11 a.m., Sunday, inside FedExForum in Memphis, Tenn.
Houston clinched its fourth American Athletic Conference regular-season championship in the last five years and the No. 1 seed at next week's American Championship with its Feb. 25 win at East Carolina.
The Cougars look to sweep the regular-season series against the Tigers after taking a 72-64 win inside the Fertitta Center in Houston on Feb. 19.
Houston enters this weekend's game following an 83-66 win over Wichita State on Senior Night in the Fertitta Center. Junior point guard Jamal Shead poured in a career-high 25 points while senior guard Marcus Sasser totaled 22 points in his sixth straight 20-point outing.
Sasser is the first Cougar since guard Damyean Dotson during the 2016-17 to post 20+ points in 6+ consecutive games and leads the Cougars with 17.2 points per game.
Freshman forward Jarace Walker stands second on the team with 11.2 points and 6.7 rebounds game and fell just a rebound shy of a double-double in Thursday's win over Wichita State.
Junior forward J'Wan Roberts continues to lead the Cougars with 7.3 rebounds per game and tops the team and the American Athletic Conference with a 64.9 field goal percentage. The U.S. Virgin Islands native has connected on 50 percent from the field in all but four games this season.
