Swimming & Diving Receives Four College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Honors

Cougars continue excellence in the classroom
HOUSTON – Four members of the University of Houston Swimming & Diving program were selected as Academic All-District honorees from the College Sport Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday. The award recognizes excellence both in the pool and in the classroom.

The Cougars are coming off their seventh consecutive American Athletic Conference Championship title win on Feb. 18 at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium in Dallas.

Seniors Elizabeth Richardson (Industrial Engineering), Julia Koluch (Strategic Communication), Chase Farris (Psychology) and junior Hedda Grelz (Mechanical Engineering) each earned Academic All-District honors.

Farris was named the American Athletic Conference Women's Diver of the Year after winning the 3-meter event, alongside taking second place in both the 1-meter and platform at the Championships.

Grelz advanced to finals in two events, fifth in the 1-meter and eighth in the 3-meter. Richardson, one of three team captains, advanced to a consolation and bonus final, earning a total of 22 points for the Cougars. Koluch placed first in the 200-backstroke consolation final with a time of 1:59.52.
UP NEXT
Houston Diving will compete in NCAA Zone D Diving Championships held in Minneapolis Minn., from March 7-9.

Qualifying Cougars will then focus on NCAA Championships beginning March 15 in Knoxville, Tenn.

The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Women's Swimming & Diving Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom.

All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late March.
