Cougars start road schedule in College Station
HOUSTON – The University of Houston softball team begins its 2023 road schedule and a 16-game road swing with a midweek matchup against #25/rv Texas A&M in College Station, Texas at 6 p.m., Wednesday.

- Houston begins its 2023 road campaign with a midweek game at #25/rv Texas A&M.
- Turiya Coleman was placed at #2 in D1Softball's latest Third Base power rankings. She ranks fifth in the NCAA in hits (26), 12th in batting average (.531), 21st in on base percentage (.589) and 26th in stolen bases (9).
- Turiya Coleman and Taylor Edwards were named to The American Honor Roll after both put together exceptional performances in the Houston Tournament.
- The Cougars return 14 members of their 2022 team while welcoming seven new players to the squad, including three transfers.
- Houston plays 16 home games and no away games in the month of February, followed by 16 neutral site/away games and no home games in the month of March.
- Picking up from its success last season, Houston leads the American and ranks 32nd nationally with 0.47 double plays per game.
- The Cougars are playing their last season in The American prior to joining the Big 12 Conference next season.
- Kenna Wilkey picked up a pair of preseason honors, being named the preseason American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year by both D1Softball and Extra Innings Softball.
- Houston ranks inside the top 100 nationally (out of 292 Division I softball programs) in batting average (66th, .294), double plays per game (32nd, 0.47), ERA (94th, 2.85), on base percentage (87th, .368), shutouts (48th, 3), slugging percentage (98th, .409), stolen bases per game (46th, 1.73) and win-loss percentage (91st, .600).
