Cougars suffer run-rule defeat against ranked Aggies
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The University of Houston softball team lost its first road game of the season in six innings, 9-1, to Texas A&M on Wednesday night at Davis Diamond.
Katy Repa tallied an RBI double as a pinch hitter at help lead Houston's (9-7) offense.
Texas A&M (12-4) scored early, plating a run on a double-steal attempt then hitting a three-run homer to lead 4-0 after one.
The Aggies added another three in the third. Koko Wooley tripled, driving home two runs, then scored on a wild pitch to push Texas A&M's lead up to 7-0.
Houston got on the board in the fifth. With two runners on, Repa laced a double into right-center that drove home Amanda Carden to cut into the deficit.
Texas A&M responded in its half of the fifth, plating a run on an RBI single to extend the Aggies lead back to 8-1.
The Aggies walked it off in the sixth with a solo home run off the bat of Grace Uribe to earn the run-rule win.
NOTABLES
- Paige Hulsey extended her reached base streak to six games with a walk in the fourth inning. She's reached base in 15 of Houston's 16 games this season.
- Coleman had her 15 game reached base streak snapped in the game.

Houston continues a 16-game road stretch with five games in Phoenix as part of the Sun Devil Classic. The Cougars begin play at 11 a.m. CT Friday against New Mexico. Houston also plays Charlotte (Friday at 1:30 p.m. CT), Michigan State (Saturday at 11 a.m. CT), Boise State (Saturday at 1:30 p.m. CT) and Arizona State (Sunday at noon CT).
