Cougars open two-day, 54-hole event on Monday morning at Westwood Golf Club
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Men's Golf program continues its spring schedule when it tees off at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic at Westwood Golf Club on Monday.
The Cougars will play 36 holes Monday on the 7,184-yard, par-72 course with the Final Round teeing off Tuesday morning.
Houston enters this week's tournament after finishing second with a 54-hole score of 871 at the Border Olympics on Feb. 13-14.
Junior Santiago De La Fuente fired three straight rounds of par or better, including a 70 in the First Round, to earn medalist honors and capture the third individual championship of his collegiate career but his first as a Cougar.
Senior Austyn Reily and sophomore Wolfgang Glawe joined De La Fuente among the Border Olympics Top-25 leaders.

ABOUT the COUGARS
Houston will be represented by De La Fuente, senior Austyn Reily, sophomore Wolfgang Glawe, senior Marcus Wochner, and super senior Campbell Gibson.
Super senior Braxton Watkins, super senior Nick Sutton, sophomore Drew Murdock and redshirt freshman Ruben Lindsay will compete as individuals.
This season, De La Fuente leads the Cougars with a 70.71 scoring average and five Top-20 finishes., The Mexico City native also has posted a team-best 11 sub-par scores in the 14 total rounds he has played in 2022-23.
Sutton has posted a 71.00 average and tied for ninth at the Houston Classic with a score of 1-under 215, thanks to a season-low 67 in the Final Round.
TEAM FIELD
The Cougars will compete in a 16-team field against Abilene Christian, Houston Christian, UIW, Lamar, Louisiana, ULM, Oral Roberts, Southern Illinois, Southern Miss, Stephen F. Austin, UT Arlington, UT Rio Grande Valley, UTSA and fellow hosts Rice and Sam Houston.
PAIRINGS
For Monday's first day, Houston will compete in groups with student-athletes from Rice.
De La Fuente and Reily will start the day for the Cougars off No. 1 at 8 a.m., Monday with Gibson (first group off No. 2) and Glawe and Wochner (second group off No. 2) following.
Lindsay and Murdock will be in the first group off No. 18 with Sutton and Watkins in the second group off No. 18.

Following the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, Houston continues its spring slate when it tees off at the Cabo Collegiate at Twin Dolphin Club in Los Cabos, Mexico, on March 5-7.
Houston will also send individuals to compete at the HCU Colin Montgomerie Invitational on March 6-7 at Sweetwater Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas.
From there, the Cougars play host to their own All-American Intercollegiate on March 20-21 at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas.
