Cougars tip off against the Rattlers at 2 p.m., Sunday
HOUSTON– The University of Houston Women's Basketball program wraps up its six-game homestand against Florida A&M at 2 p.m., Sunday for The Shasta Express/Teacher Appreciation Day inside Fertitta Center.
Fans can enjoy a halftime meet & greet with Shasta and Sasha Claus while fans 12 and under can stick around postgame for a meet & greet with select student-athletes. Teachers can receive discounted $2 tickets for the game by presenting a valid ID at the ticket office.

THE GAME
- Sunday's game marks the first-ever meeting between Houston and Florida A&M.
- This is Houston's final home game of its six-game homestand.
- Graduate guard N'Yah Boyd is 11 points away from the 1,000-Point Club (989 points). She will be the 30th Cougar to reach 1,000 career points.
- Houston dropped its first game of the season against Middle Tennessee, 70-45, inside Fertitta Center on Wednesday evening.
- The loss to the Blue Raiders ended the Cougars' undefeated start to the season.
- Houston recorded 14 steals, with senior guard Laila Blair leading the charge with six. The Cougars recorded 21 points off those turnovers.
- Boyd led the Cougars with 11 points, her fourth game this season in double figures.
- Houston ranks first nationally and in the Big 12 Conference in steals (17.8).
- Graduate forward Bria Patterson (917) is 83 points away from reaching 1,000 career points with the Cougars.
- Both Britney Onyeje (180) and Laila Blair (151) have their eyes set on the Houston all-time three-pointers made record of 226 set by Brittney Scott (2007-11).
- A season after being the shortest team in the league and relying on its full court press to make teams uncomfortable, the Cougars are the 11th tallest team in the league this year, with an average height of 5-11.
- Ahead of the 2023-24 season, the Guy V. Lewis Development Facility saw a face lift to the second story; the floor Houston Basketball has its locker rooms, team rooms and cafeteria.
