Houston Drops Road Contest Against rv/rv Washington State

Cougars close non-conference slate against Rice at 1 p.m., Wednesday
PULLMAN, Wash. – The University of Houston Women's Basketball program dropped its first road game against rv/rv Washington State, 95-48 at Beasley Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.
What was a close game at the end of the first quarter for Houston (8-2, 0-0 Big 12), a hot Washington State (11-2, 0-1 Pac 12) was able to convert nine steals into 12 points to end the first half on a 15-2 run.
Houston was led in scoring by senior guard Laila Blair, who scored 10 points and posted four rebounds. The Houston native has scored in double figures in eight games this season.
Washington State's Charlisse Leger-Walker recorded a triple-double as the senior guard posted 15 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. She was one of five players in double figure points for the Cougs.

Houston returns to Fertitta Center for its Hoopin' for the Holidays game as it welcomes Rice at 1 p.m., Wednesday to close out non-conference action.
Fans are encouraged to wear an ugly Christmas sweater to enter the ugly sweater contest to win a special prize along with a meet and greet with Shasta Claus.
Following the conclusion of non-conference action, the Cougars will open Big 12 Conference play as they face Texas Tech on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 1 p.m., inside Fertitta Center.
