Cougars open two-game road swing against Roadrunners
SAN ANTONIO– The University of Houston Women's Basketball program is back on the road as it begins its two-game road swing with a trip down I-10 to face UTSA at 6 p.m., Thursday at the Convocation Center.

THE GAME
- Thursday marks the 23rd all-time meeting between both teams and first meeting in San Antonio since the 2016-17 season where Houston defeated UTSA, 56-49 victory.
- The Cougars have won the last four matchups in the series.
- This marks the second meeting between Head Coaches Ronald Hughey and Karen Aston.
- UTSA is the first of two American Athletic Conference opponents for Houston this season (Rice).
- In front of 3,658 fans for education day, the University of Houston Women's Basketball program took down Texas Southern, 89-42, inside Fertitta Center on Tuesday afternoon.
- Tuesday's crowd marked the second-highest attended Houston women's basketball game at Fertitta Center and the fifth largest in program history.
- Three Cougars scored in double figures as junior forward Maliyah Johnson led the team with 16 points, followed by 11 points from senior forward Kamryn Jones and senior guard Laila Blair with 10.
- Houston held Texas Southern to nine points in both the second and fourth quarters, marking back-to-back games holding an opponent to single digits in multiple quarters. It marks Houston's fifth game this season, holding an opponent to single digits in a quarter.
- In the second NET rankings, the Cougars moved up 15 spots to No. 85.
- Graduate forward Bria Patterson (939) is 61 points away from reaching 1,000 career points with the Cougars.
- Both Britney Onyeje (184) and Laila Blair (155) have their eyes set on the Houston all-time three-pointers made record of 226 set by Brittney Scott (2007-11).
- A season after being the shortest team in the league and relying on its full court press to make teams uncomfortable, the Cougars are the 11th tallest team in the league this year an average height of 5-11.
- Ahead of the 2023-24 season, the Guy V. Lewis Development Facility saw a face lift to the second story; the floor Houston Basketball has its locker rooms, team rooms and cafeteria.
