Cougars to meet Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 12:30 p.m., Saturday
HOUSTON – Coming off an impressive defensive performance in its season opener, #7/6 Houston continues it homestand when it meets Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, inside Fertitta Center.
The Cougars enter this weekend's matinee following an 84-31 win over ULM on Monday inside Fertitta Center. That total tied as the third-fewest points allowed in school history and was the fewest points allowed by the Cougars since a 38-29 win at Texas A&M on Dec. 8, 1951.
Houston forced 25 turnovers while limiting the Warhawks to 28.2 percent (11-of-39) from the field and 18.8 percent (3-of-16) from the arc. The Cougars also outrebounded ULM 46-30 with 20 offensive boards.
Sophomore guard Emanuel Sharp led all players with 20 points, thanks to a game-high four 3-pointers, for the first 20-point game of his career. Making his Houston debut after competing for four seasons at Temple, senior guard Damian Dunn poured in 18 points with three treys while senior forward J'Wan Roberts and junior guard Ramon Walker each snared a game-high seven rebounds.
Saturday's game will be the first time Houston has faced Texas A&M-Corpus Christi since the 2013-14 season.
