Freshmen Aryanna Jimison and Kyrsten Kizer score in Sunday's victory
LAWRENCE, Kan.– Freshmen duo Aryanna Jimison and Kyrsten Kizer propelled the University of Houston Soccer program to a 2-0 victory against Kansas on Sunday afternoon at Rock Chalk Park.
Houston (8-6-1, 2-5 Big 12) got on the board in the 54th minute as Kizer broke the scoreless tie against Kansas (3-6-6, 0-5-2 Big 12). Jimison assisted Kizer off a free kick for the forward's third goal this season.
Three minutes later, the Cougars were awarded a free kick, with Jimison taking the shot and sending it past Kansas' Melania Pasar for the midfielder's third of the season.
Junior defender Anna Reysa nearly recorded a third goal in the 79th minute as her shot hit the crossbar.
Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Dietrich had a perfect afternoon at net, recording five saves to earn the clean sheet, her second of the season. This marks Dietrich's seventh match with five or more saves.
Houston's win over Kansas marked the first Big 12 road victory for Houston Athletics since the Cougars joined the league on July 1.
