
Houston Defensive Duo Set for Hula Bowl

Seniors Art Green, D’Anthony Jones take part in 77th annual postseason event
ORLANDO, Fla. – University of Houston Football defensive lineman D'Anthony Jones and defensive back Art Green will take part in the 77th annual Tunnel to Towers Hula Bowl at 11 a.m. CT Saturday from FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando, Fla., on CBS Sports Network.

The senior duo, who turn their attention to the next level, helped Houston to an 8-5 record and victory in the Independence Bowl in 2022. The postseason bowl win was the Cougars' second consecutive and 20th overall victory since the start of the 2021 season.

Jones led the nation with eight combined forced fumbles from 2021-22 and paced The American with 14.0 sacks since the start of the 2021 season. In 2022, the First-Team All-American Athletic Conference honoree boasted the nation's top pass rush grade among edge defenders (93.1) and second-best overall grade among the group (91.4) according to PFF.

Green produced a career year for the Cougars, registering 49 tackles, eight pass breakups and two interceptions. The Chesterfield, Mo., native was named the Independence Bowl Defensive Most Valuable Player after logging nine tackles including eight solo stops. The Second-Team All-American Athletic Conference honoree totaled 18 tackles over his final three games.

Six Cougars are set to participate in collegiate all-star games over the coming weeks. Senior defensive back Gervarrius Owens and senior defensive lineman Derek Parish are headed to the East-West Shrine Bowl in Las Vegas on Thursday, Feb. 2 (7:30 p.m. CT on NFL Network). Senior quarterback Clayton Tune and junior wide receiver Nathaniel Dell will take part in the Reese's Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., on Saturday, Feb. 4 (1:30 p.m. CT on NFL Network).
