Houston Hosts No. 18 UCF for Senior Weekend

HOUSTON − The University of Houston softball team hosts Senior Weekend and No. 18 UCF Friday-Sunday at Cougar Softball Stadium. The Cougars will honor five upperclassmen including Rock Benavides, Bethany Busch, Becca Schulte, Aspen Howie and Hannah Todd.

FIRST PITCH

The Cougars will recognize five seniors over Saturday and Sunday, including Rock Benavides, Bethany Busch, Becca Schulte, Aspen Howie and Hannah Todd.
Houston has beaten a ranked opponent each of the last seven seasons and every year under head coach Kristin Vesely.
Houston will play a different ranked opponent in back-to-back games for the second-consecutive year. The Cougars played the same ranked opponent once in 2021 and three times in 2020.
The last time UH played two different ranked teams in back-to-back games, the Cougars upset #7 Oklahoma State in 2021.
Freshman Baylea Myers hit her first-career home run against Wichita State April 15.
The Cougars are hitting .332 in the third inning of games. Houston's average is .279 or above when hitting in the first four innings of games.
For the first time since joining The American, the Cougars swept the weekly awards April 11. Bethany Busch was named Player of the Week and Kenna Wilkey was named Pitcher of the Week.
Houston is off to its best 12-game start to conference play since 2017.
Paige Hulsey tied a school record for stolen bases with a perfect 4-for-4 on stolen base attempts against Memphis on April 3.
Hannah Todd became the first pitcher to win all three games of a series in program history winning all three games against Memphis.
Houston had its nine-game home winning streak snapped by Wichita State.
Becca Schulte hit a home run in the final game of 2020, did not play in 2021, and hit a home run in her first at-bat of 2022. Thus, Schulte hit a home run in back-to-back games spanning 23 months.
Graduate student Becca Schulte is competing in her seventh season as a collegiate athlete. Schulte graduated high school in 2015. She is one of two known seventh-year softball players in the DI ranks.
Houston will face four Preseason Top 25 teams in 2022, including three teams in the Top 10 of D1Softball's preseason poll.
The Cougars play 10 teams that made a regional in 2021 and seven Power 5 opponents in 2022, facing those seven teams a total of 11 total times.

On Sunday, March of Dimes will be hosting its annual 3 ½-mile "March for Babies" walk across campus with the event scheduled for 9-11 a.m. Fans attending Houston Baseball/Softball's series finales should plan for the potential of additional traffic en route to the ballpark.
