Green Wave Get Even

Houston scored three times in the eighth inning, highlighted by a two-out, two run single from Anthony Tulimero to tie the game at 10-all after the Cougars saw a three-run lead slip away on six Green Wave runs between the seventh and eighth innings.
Shortstop Trevor Minder drove home the winning run in the ninth as the Green Wave (24-11-1, 6-2 American) capitalized on a leadoff double from Jake LaPrairie off Cougar closer Ben Sears (5-1). The loss dropped Houston to 22-13 overall and 4-4 in The American.
The result spoiled another dominant day from Cougar designated hitter Brandon Uhse who clocked a pair of home runs, moving his total to three on the series. An Ian McMillan two-run home run and Alex Lopez RBI-single put Houston ahead 7-4 in the sixth inning.
Tulane used four hits to plate three runs, including the game-tying sacrifice fly from pinch hitter Brady Marget in the seventh. One inning later, nine-hole hitter Brady Hebert and Ethan Groff smacked back-to-back home runs for a 10-7 lead.
Cougar starter Kyle LaCalameto went 5.0 innings, permitting five hits and four runs (three earned) with a pair of walks and five strikeouts. Tulane starter Dylan Carmouche allowed seven hits and four runs while striking out a pair and walking three in 4.2 innings.
UP NEXT
Alumni Weekend presented by Ford – the Official Truck and SUV of Houston Athletics, wraps at 1 p.m. Saturday. Houston has not announced a starter. Tulane will send right-hander Michael Massey (2-1, 4.35 ERA) to the mound.
