Cougars tip off vs. Bearcats at 5 p.m. (CST) Sunday inside Fifth Third Arena
CINCINNATI – Winners of its last 11 games and each of its first eight American Athletic Conference contests, the University of Houston Men's Basketball program returns to action when it faces Cincinnati at 5 p.m. (CST) Sunday inside Fifth Third Arena.
No. 6/9 Houston enters this weekend's game following a 73-62 home win over Tulane inside the Fertitta Center on Wednesday night. Against the Green Wave, graduate forward Fabian White Jr. led all players with a career-high-tying 21 points.
With his total, White moved past 1,000 points in his Houston career, becoming only the 49th student-athlete in school history to reach that milestone.
This season, senior guard Kyler Edwards leads the Cougars' available players with 14.2 points per game. The Arlington, Texas, native also stands 10th in the league with 6.0 rebounds per contest and is one of only three players to rank among The American's Top-10 leaders in both scoring and rebounding.
Sophomore point guard Jamal Shead leads the Cougars and the league with 5.0 assists per game and stands ninth nationally with a 3.09 assist-turnover ratio.

• With Houston's next win graduate forward Fabian White Jr. will tie Houston great Michael Young (109 wins, 1980-84) as the winningest player in school history. The Atascocita, Texas, native moved past forward Brison Gresham (45 wins, 2018-21) as the winningest player in Fertitta Center history earlier this season.
• Graduate forward Josh Carlton needs only two points to reach 1,000 points in his collegiate career. The Winterville, N.C., native scored 746 points during his UConn career (2017-21) and has scored 252 points in his first 21 games at Houston this season.
• Carlton could become the fourth student-athlete to reach 1,000 points in his career with the Cougars this season. Graduate forward Fabian White became the 49th player in Houston career history to reach that milestone in the Cougars' win over Tulane on Wednesday, while graduate guard Taze Moore and senior guard Kyler Edwards hit quadruple digits earlier this season.
• In addition to his victory totals, White needs to compete in only four games to tie point guard Galen Robinson Jr. for the school record with 136 career games played.

Through games of Feb. 3, Houston leads the nation in field-goal percentage defense, limiting opponents to 36.3 percent from the field.
The Cougars also rank among the nation's Top-25 statistical leaders in scoring defense (56.5, 2nd), scoring margin (+20.2, 3rd), winning percentage (90.5, 3rd), offensive rebounds (14.0 orpg, 6th), turnover margin (+4.7, 10th), 3-point field goal percentage defense (28.2, 13th), assist-turnover ratio (1.46, 14th) and blocked shots (5.5, 16th).
STREAKING NATIONALLY
With Monday's release, the Cougars were ranked in the Associated Press poll for the 39th consecutive week, extending their school record. Houston has been ranked in every AP poll since Jan. 20, 2019.
It also marks the 90th week in which the Cougars appeared in the Top 10 in program history.
This is the fifth straight season under Sampson in which the Cougars were ranked for at least one week. Houston finished at No. 6 in the final AP and at No. 3 in the final Ferris Mowers Coaches polls a year ago after advancing to the sixth NCAA Final Four in school history.
