HOUSTON – The University of Houston women's basketball team opens its 2022-23 season on the road at Louisiana in Lafayette, La., on Monday in the 11th all-time meeting between the two programs.

Senior Britney Onyeje scored a game-high 16 points in the last meeting between the two teams in 2021.
Graduate Tatyana Hill wrangled in 10 rebounds and three blocks in the last meeting in 2021.
Down one point at halftime, the Cougars outscored the Rajin' Cajuns 16-8 in the third quarter and then 21-14 in the fourth quarter to earn the win 63-51.
Seniors Bria Patterson and Onyeje each recorded a trio of steals in the game.
Destiny Rice led the offensive charge for Louisiana with a team-high 13 points but committed six turnovers.

Junior Laila Blair was a unanimous Preseason All-Conference First Team selection by The American coaches.
The Cougars were picked to finish second in the league and received two first place votes in the Coaches Poll.
Houston faces five teams in 2022-23 that received votes in the Preseason AP Poll. Kansas State, Florida, South Florida, UCF and Washington State.
