Deininger Named Conference Diver of the Week

Cougar senior earns trio of top-three finishes at Houston Diving Invitational
HOUSTON – University of Houston senior Katie Deininger was named the American Athletic Conference Women's Diving Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.

Deininger earned her fifth career conference honor after sweeping the podium at the Houston Diving Invitational, winning both the 1-meter (294.55) and 3-meter (318.00) events as well as earning second place on the platform with a score of 216.15.

AÂ native of Cave Creek, Ariz., Deininger placed third in the 3-meter event at the 2022 American Athletic Conference Championships. Deininger has also qualified for four consecutive NCAA Zone D Diving Championships, including earning spots in the 1-meter and 3-meter events for the 2023 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships.

The Cougars return to the CRWC Natatorium to host their first dual meet of the season at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 5, against American Athletic Conference rival Tulane. Fans can attend the meet free of charge with no student claim necessary. Â
