DALLAS – The University of Houston volleyball team pushed its win streak to eight-games, tying the longest streak under Head Coach David Rehr, with a 3-0 sweep against SMU in Dallas on Friday afternoon.
Houston (16-2, 7-0 The American) has now posted its best record through 18 games since the 1976 team went 16-2 in a season that saw the squad reach the AIAW tournament. The Cougars avenged a pair of losses to SMU (12-7, 5-2 The American) from last season, snapping the Mustangs' two-game win streak in the all-time series. SMU remains in third place in the conference, now two games behind Houston.
Junior Annie Cooke posted her fifth double-double of the season and 20th of her career with 16 assists and 10 digs. Her double-digit digs total marks the 15th time in her career that she's tallied 10-or-more in the category.
Senior Morgan Janda tallied 21 assists and three service aces, while senior Rachel Tullos finished with six kills on six attacks for a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage. Meanwhile, junior Kate Georgiades led the match with 16 digs and has led play in all but one match this season.
Senior Abbie Jackson and graduate Isabel Theut paced the team on offense, each tallying double-digit kill totals. Theut led the team for the ninth time this season with 12, while Jackson recorded 11, marking the 70th time in her career that she's posted 10-or-more.

The Cougars went on to take the frame, 25-22, with Tullos and graduate Kortlyn Henderson teaming up for a block to seal the set.
Theut tallied six kills in the first set, aiding the team as it posted a .326 hitting efficiency in the frame.
