Cougars to play conference home opener on Saturday against Tulsa

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN HURRICANE. Tulsa had a 10-0 start, topping the previous best of 7-0 during the 2004-05 season. The 10-game win streak was the longest in school history, beating a nine-game streak during the 2005-06 campaign.
KEEP IT GOING. Houston is currently on a five-game win streak starting with a win against Jacksonville State on December 9 to the Cougars most recent win against Wichita State.
COMING HOME. It has been 17 days since the Cougars last played in the Fertitta Center. The Cougars had both of their previous home games canceled including the American Conference Opener. Houston recently rescheduled that game against Tulane to January 17.
HOME COURT ADVANTAGE. The Cougars are currently 5-0 when playing at home. The streak started with the exhibition against Texas A&M Commerce and then tallied home wins against Howard, New Mexico, Jacksonville State, Louisiana and most recently Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
CONFERENCE PLAY. With its win against Wichita State, the Cougars moved to a 1-0 record in conference. Houston played one of the four games that occurred on Wednesday with Tulsa, UCF and South Florida also winning their conference matchup.
AGAINST WICHITA STATE. Britney Onyeje led Houston (8-5, 1-0 AAC) with 12 points with six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Kamryn Jones recorded a career-high 11 points while Laila Blair also contributed 11. Fatou Diagne brought down 10 rebounds to go with five blocks and eight points in the Cougars' victory.
