Tuilefano shatters school record on final day of G5 & Super 22 Invite

Nu'uausala Tuilefano tallied a 17.10 for a new school record in the shot up
HOUSTON – Nu'uausala Tuilefano shattered the school record in the women's shot up on the final day of the G5 & Super 22 Invitational at Yeoman Fieldhouse.
Women's Field
Shot Put
Tuilefano recorded a 17.10, shattering the 35-year school record in the women's shot. Her career-high throw is the No. 1 mark in the American and No. 5 in the nation. The record was previously held by Cheryl Klein when she threw 16.68 in 1987.
Triple Jump
Destiny Lawrence took the top spot in the women's triple jump. With a 12.51 mark, Lawrence bested the rest of the field by 0.21 meters.
Men's Field
Pole Vault
Christyan Sampy highlighted the men's field events with an indoor personal best of 5.36m in the pole vault. Sampy currently ranks No. 1 in the American and No. 13 in the nation and placed second in the event. Ben Percefull added to the competition clearing a height of 5.11 for fourth place.
Triple Jump
Jadon Brome took second in the men's triple jump with a mark of 15.83 He is currently No. 12 nationally in the Triple Jump and No. 1 in the American. Quinton Stringfellow immediately followed in third with a 15.68.
Shot Put
Mustafa Fall tallied a 16.77 in the men's shot put, taking second place in the meet while Johnny Howell took ninth with a 15.11m.
Men's Track
200 Meter
Jordan Booker clocked the fastest time in the meet with a 21.24 in the 200 meter. Edward Sumler immediately followed in second with a 21.35 time and Tyrell Valentine rounded out the top five in fourth place with a 21.63 mark.
4x400 Relay
Houston showed its strength in the men's 4x400 relay taking the top two spots. A team of Joshua White, Trey Johnson, Adam Mason and Tyrell Valentine handily won the race with a time of 3:11.52. The men's second relay team posted a time of 3:19.45 and the third Houston relay team took sixth at 3:21.40.
Distance Medley Relay
A team of Christian Gilmore, Carlos Castillo, Adam Mason and Devin Vallejo-Bannister took the first place spot in the men's distance relay with a time of 9:59.07.
UP NEXT
The Cougars track and field team now turns its attention to the Charlie Thomas Invitation hosted by Texas A&M. The meet takes place from Jan 28-19 in College Station, Texas.
