Houston sets meet record in distance medley relay at Charlie Thomas Invite

Seagreaves, Mason, Gilmore and Vallejo-Bannister clocked a meet record at Texas A&M
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Brandon Seagreaves, Adam Mason, Christian Gilmore and Devin Vallejo-Bannister recorded a new meet record in the men's distance medley relay at the Charlie Thomas Invitational.
Men's Distance Medley Relay
The men's medley relay team set a meet record and season-best on Friday night with a time of 9:48.57. A team of Seagreaves, Mason, Gilmore and Vallejo-Bannister took the title in the distance medley relay and currently ranks No. 20 in the nation in the event.
Men's 800 Meter
Gilmore earned his first solo first-place win of the season in the 800 meter after helping his team set a record in the distance medley relay on Friday night. His 1:52.11 in the 800 was a season-best while teammate and relay contributor Adam Mason joined him in the top three with a 1:52.73 for third and a new personal best.
Women's Weight Throw
Priscilla Adejokun continued to dominate in the weight throw earning first place for the third straight meet she has competed in. Her 22.09 throw was a new personal best and ranks No. 7 in the nation.
Women's Triple Jump
Destiny Lawrence again took first place in the triple jump in as many weeks. She tabbed a season-best 12.68m ranking No. 42 in the nation in the event.
Men's 4x400 Meter
A team of Trey Johnson, Quivell Jordan, Tyrell Valentine and Jordan Booker took home second place in the men's 4x400. A season-best for Houston's A relay team, they moved to the No. 10 spot in the nation with a 3:06.28 time.
60 meter
Jordan Booker also finished in second place in the men's 60 meter. The junior finished with a personal best of 6.69 behind Olympian Emmanuel Matadi. Edward Sumler IV also made it to finals and placed sixth with a 6.84. Camille Rutherford continued to place in the 60 meter. Clocking a 7.31, Rutherford took second in the event, her second-straight week finishing in the top 2.
Long Jump
In the men's long jump, Benjamin Okafor tabbed a 7.36m for second place. He currently ranks No. 42 in the nation with a 7.53, a mark he recorded at the Leonard Hilton Invite. Alexis Tilford-Rutherford recorded second place in the long jump with a 5.79. It was her second top-3 finish this season after taking second at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invite in the long jump.
The Houston track and field team will now split and travel to the Clemson Tiger Paw Invite while the other part of the team will compete at home in the Howie Ryan Invitational. The team traveling to Clemson will compete from Feb. 11-12 while the rest of the team will compete in Yeoman Fieldhouse on Feb. 11.
