Tatyana Hill posted 14 rebounds and 12 points in game against Bearcats
HOUSTON – Tatyana Hill recorded her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 14 rebounds in the Cougars' 71-56 loss to Cincinnati on Wednesday night.
Hill led the team in both rebounding and scoring with 14 and 12, respectively. She added two steals to her stat line as Julia Blackshell-Fair added seven assists to go with seven points and five rebounds.
First Quarter
The Cougars faced adversity in the first quarter as Cincinnati went on a scoring streak. A 17-4 run put Houston down and the quarter ended with the score at 26-11 for Cincinnati.
Second Quarter
Houston started to find its rhythm in the second quarter and began to chip away at the Bearcats lead. In the final six minutes, the Cougars held the Bearcats scoreless going on a 9-0 run to go into halftime down 36-25.
Third Quarter
In the third quarter, the Bearcats continued their scoring streak with 11 unanswered points making the score 47-27. The Cougars connected on six free throws but Cincinnati maintained its double-digit lead to close the quarter 58-38.
Fourth Quarter
The Cougars found momentum in the fourth quarter going on an 11-2 run making the score 63-51. A Laila Blair 3-pointer brought the game within 10 points but it was ultimately too late as Cincinnati took the win 71-56.
UP NEXT
Houston travels to Memphis for its fourth game in seven days. The game is slated for Saturday, January 23 with tipoff at 2 p.m. CT.
