Cougars drop Temple contest 62-54

Houston women's basketball recorded its second conference loss
Laila Blair led the Cougars (9-7, 2-2) with 10 points, while Tatyana Hill and Fatou Diagne contributed nine and seven rebounds, respectively.
First Quarter
Despite Temple going ahead early 7-2, Houston continued to fight back. Back-to-back layups from Kamryn Jones and Hill brought the game within one at 7-6. But a seven-point run from the Owls put the score at 16-8. The Cougars kept the game close and the quarter closed with Temple ahead 21-17.
Second Quarter
The Owls took a double-digit lead in the second quarter but Houston chipped away at their lead. A 3-pointer from Eryka Sidney gave Houston momentum and the quarter closed with Temple ahead 35-27.
Third Quarter
Houston scored nearly all of its points from the charity line in the third quarter. A jumper from Jones followed by one from Julia Blackshell-Fair brought the game within four points to start the quarter. But, Temple held its lead, closing the quarter ahead 48-39.
Fourth Quarter
In the fourth quarter, the Cougars went on an 8-1 run to bring the score within five points but the Owls continued to maintain their lead. The deficit was too much for Houston as Temple took the win 62-43.
UP NEXT
The Cougars return home for its rescheduled game against Tulane on January 17th for a matchup on MLK Day. The game will tip-off at 2 p.m. CT.
