Houston Soccer Records Sunday Shutout

Cougars add another win to the season record
HOUSTON – Houston Soccer improves to 8-1-1 on its season record with a home win against Sam Houston State (2-5-0) on Sunday.

Redshirt-freshman Nadia Kamassah scored both goals for the Cougars clinching the match. Her first score of the night occurred in the 43rd minute with an unassisted shot to the bottom of the goal to put Houston on the scoreboard. After the conclusion of halftime, Kamassah found the opportunity after a corner kick by Caitlyn Matthews and assist by Kaylee Dressback. She sealed the deal for the Cougars earning her fifth goal of the season.

Goalkeeper Mikaela Gracia also had a standout performance recording another clean sheet in the net. Gracia has now tallied six clean sheets. She continues to keep opposing teams from getting any points on the board allowing the Cougars to have another shutout.

Houston Soccer comes off a successful weekend with two wins, including its first American Athletic Conference win of the 2021 schedule last Thursday.

Houston will host Arkansas Pine Bluff on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Carl Lewis International Complex for Senior Night.
