Houston Releases 2021-22 Schedule

Cougars open fall season under new Head Coach Lydia Gumm on Sept. 13-14
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Golf program will compete in nine regular-season tournaments across six states during the 2021-22 season, Carolyn Macow Leatherwood Head Coach Lydia Gumm announced Wednesday.
An assistant coach with the Cougars for the previous three years, Gumm was selected to lead the program in June. She returns four letterwinners from the 2021 squad which captured three Top-3 team finishes, including American Athletic Conference Player of the Year and First-Team All-American junior Karen Fredgaard and The American All-Conference performer sophomore Delaney Martin.

FALL SEASON
After not competing during the 2020 fall season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cougars resume their fall slate, starting Sept. 13-14 at the Samuel P. Golden Invitational at Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch in Denton, Texas.
From there, the team will compete at the Schooner Fall Classic on Sept. 26-27 at Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Okla., before playing in the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Oct. 4-6 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.
The team closes out the fall campaign on Oct. 17-18 at the Jim West Challenge in Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas.

SPRING SEASON
Following a break, the Cougars open their spring season at the UCF Challenge on Feb. 6-7 at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando. A year ago, All-American Karen Fredgaard captured the first individual title of her career with a score of 9-under 207, thanks to a Second-Round 67.
From there, Houston returns home to play host to the ICON Invitational on Feb. 21-22 at Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas. The Cougars welcome an elite field to that 54-hole event, including Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan State, Mississippi, North Texas, Oklahoma State, Purdue, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas State and Texas Tech.
Houston competes at the MountainView Collegiate on March 18-20 at MountainView Country Club in Tucson, Ariz, before playing the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at UGA Golf Course in Athens, Ga., on March 25-27.
The Cougars close out their regular season when they tee off at The Bruzzy at Winstar Golf Club in Thackerville, Okla., on April 11-12.
POSTSEASON
The Cougars take their first step in the postseason when they compete at the American Athletic Conference Championships on Pinehurst No. 6 at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, N.C., on April 17-19. The winner of the league's annual postseason events advances to the NCAA postseason.
From there, Houston looks to advance to NCAA Regional play for the seventh consecutive season. NCAA postseason play will be held at four venues across the country, including The Championship Golf Course at UNM (Albuquerque, N.M.); U-M Golf Course (Ann Arbor, Mich.); Karsten Creek Golf Club (Stillwater, Okla.) and Don Veller Seminole Golf Course & Club (Tallahassee, Fla.).
The top teams from each NCAA Regional advance to play at the NCAA Championships, set for May 20-25 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
