HOUSTON – University of Houston Softball senior Rock Benavides was named The American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

In four games this week, Benavides helped lead the Cougars to a pair of road wins against Memphis, which included the program's 700th all-time win. Not only did the Corpus Christi, Texas, native pace her team with a .636 batting average, but she reached base in 11 of her 15 plate appearances on the weekend as well.
Benavides also posted two multiple-hit outings against the Tigers, which included three hits in the series finale, tying a career-high.
