Sophomore tees off at 2:25 p.m., (CDT) Friday in First Round at Grayhawk Golf Club
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – University of Houston sophomore Karen Fredgaard will compete in the NCAA Championships for the first time during her award-winning collegiate career when she tees off Friday afternoon at Grayhawk Golf Club.
Fredgaard earned her inaugural trip to the NCAA Championships as one of the nation's Top-10 players. Although the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional was canceled without a shot being played due to unplayable conditions from wet weather last week, Fredgaard's No. 7 ranking made her one of three student-athletes not from a qualifying team to advance to the nation's top collegiate tournament.
Fredgaard and the field will play 54 holes of stroke play with 18 holes each day, starting Friday. Following 54 holes, the Top-15 teams along with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team will advance for one additional day of stroke play Monday to determine the individual national champion.
