Diagne closed out 2020-21 season with All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's Basketball team and Head Coach Ronald Hughey continue to bring in big time talent with the addition of graduate transfer Fatou Diagne.
"Fatou is a great young woman," said Hughey. "She is going to be a great connecting piece for us when it comes to establishing ourselves as one of the top teams in the conference. She will also help our culture. She's a great person and all about building connections and getting everyone around her to do the right things. Her stats speak to who she is. She can impact the game on both ends of the floor and we're excited about the opportunity to have her. She is going to do great things for us and help us move the needle".
The 6-4 graduate transfer will come to Houston from Purdue where she played for the Boilermakers for the past three seasons. Diagne started in all 23 games for the Boilermakers during the 2020-21 season, pacing the team on the glass with eight rebounds per game, in addition to 8.5 points per contest.
On eight different occasions this past season Diagne recorded double-digit rebounding efforts, including a 14-point, 18 rebound double-double against Penn State. Diagne concluded her senior season as one of the best rebounders in the Big Ten, ranking seventh in rebounding and third in offensive rebounding this past season. At the conclusion of Purdue's 2020-21 campaign Diagne earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors.
Diagne will be the third newcomer for the Cougars 2021-22 season, joining Kendall Brown and Ash'a Thompson.
