Houston native named AAC Offensive Player of the Week
HOUSTON – After a breakout performance with a goal and an assist, Maddie Dichiara has been named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Â
Dichiara scored an 8th minute goal on Sunday, the first of her career, before assisting on Jazmin Grant's second half score. Dichiara's performance set the pace for the Cougars as they defeated the Knights for the first time in program history with a dominant 3-1 victory.Â
Transferring from Oklahoma, Dichiara only played 47 minutes with no significant statistics recorded in her lone season there. Now, Dichiara has four offensive points for her hometown program including her first career assist on March 28 against USF. Â
A graduate of Memorial High School, Dichiara led the school to its first state title as a junior as she was named First Team All-District. Â
With the award, the Cougars have now won seven total conference honors this season. Just last week the program has awarded with a pair of Honor Roll spots as well as Rookie of the Week honors.Â
