Soccer Adds Goalkeeper Delilah Burns for 2026 Season

Cougars add early enrollee and U17 Dominican Republic National Team goalkeeper
HOUSTON – Under-17 Dominican Republic National Team goalkeeper Delilah Burns joined the University of Houston Soccer team ahead of the 2026 season, Head Coach Ben Williams announced Friday.
"We're excited to welcome Delilah to the program a year early after her reclassification," said Williams. "She's a goalkeeper with tremendous potential, and we're eager to help her develop and reach that level as quickly as possible. Delilah has an outstanding work ethic and the drive to excel both on the field and in the classroom. She's gained valuable experience competing at a high level in Florida, which will help her transition and make an impact in the program. Her personality brings people together, and she'll be a tremendous addition to our program."
Burns joins the Cougars as an early enrollee after reclassifying from the 2027 class.
While at Robinson High School, Burns was tabbed a United Coaches Association All-State honoree after recording 101 saves with an 80 percent save percentage in 924 minutes of action after the 2024-25 season. Burns also earned Florida Athletic Coaches Association All-State and Academic honors following that standout season.
Burns spent time with the Dominican Republic National team on multiple occasions where she helped the team to an undefeated group stage and a World Cup qualification. She also helped the Dominican Republic National team to the U15 Championship of the CONCACAF in 2024.
The Evans, Ga., native was a five-time Dominican Republic U17 Youth National Team Training Camp Invitee as well as one of 30 players nationwide to be selected to the Orlando Pride ID Center.
The 2026 season gets underway Aug. 12 when the Cougars travel to take on FGCU in Ft. Meyers, Fla., before opening the home slate on Aug. 20 against Northwestern State. Season tickets are on sale now.
