Cougars return home after 10 games
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Softball team returns to Cougar Softball Stadium for the first time in 10 games, as the Cougars host USF for their home conference opener April 1-3.
Houston and USF have a rich history between each other, with the all-time series dating back to the program's inception in 2001. The Cougars trail the all-time series 15-22.
When it comes to shying away from the nation's best teams, Houston is no stranger in that regard. With 15 games against teams that are either ranked or receiving votes under their belt, the Cougars have more games slated on their schedule against the top competition.
Houston has shown its worth matching up with the best competition, having already taken down No. 7/7 Oklahoma State and RV/RV Baylor this season.

- Houston's pitching staff has been on another level as of late, having surrendered no more than three earned runs in six of its last eight games, which has resulted in a team ERA of 2.12 in those six contests. Those six games have also seen the staff hold opposing batters to an average of .236.
- Junior Rachel Hertenberger has been at the forefront of leading the pitching staff, posting an ERA of 2.25 in her past five starts, while holding the opposition to an average of just .232. She's collected two wins during that stretch, with her win over No. 7/7 Oklahoma State being the second in her career over a top-25 team.
- Having started the past 172 games for the Cougars, senior Sarah Queen has been a rock in the Houston lineup for years. A steady presence of consistency, Queen's .375 batting average this season puts her on pace to post back-to-back years with an average above the .354 mark.
