Cougars seek undefeated mark in conference play
HOUSTON – The Houston Volleyball team returns to American Athletic Conference action, as the Cougars wrap up their regular season with a pair of matches against Wichita State March 26-27.
Houston enters the weekend looking to continue its recent trend of success against the Shockers, having won its last four matchups between the two sides, which includes back-to-back season series sweeps.
With an 8-0 record in The American, Houston is seeking to remain undefeated and move to 9-0 in conference play, something that has not been accomplished since the 1997 campaign when Houston was part of Conference USA.

- Last week, Houston went toe-to-toe with one of the premier programs in the country, having taken No. 6 Baylor to five sets in its contest with the Lady Bears. Houston's 2-0 match lead over Baylor marked the first time since Nov. 29, 2018 that the Lady Bears trailed 2-0 to an unranked team.
- When Houston swept its season series against Memphis, the Cougars clinched The American West Division title, marking the program's first conference title of any kind since joining the league.
- The Cougars' first-place standing is the second year in a row they have finished in a higher spot than predicated in the preseason poll. Houston was picked third in this year's preseason poll.
- One of the reasons for Houston's success this season has been its strong starts, as the Cougars have held a 2-0 match lead in 11 contests this spring. Houston is 9-2 this season when leading after two sets and 16-4 overall in the David Rehr era on such occasions.
