Fans will have opportunity to bid on his custom sneakers during NCAA Tournament games
INDIANAPOLIS – University of Houston Men's Basketball Head Coach Kelvin Sampson is joining other coaches in a series of sweepstakes to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
Sampson – as well as coaches Lon Kruger (Oklahoma), Brad Underwood (Illinois), Fran McCaffrey (Iowa) and Greg McDermott (Creighton) – will be wearing custom Coaches vs. Cancer inspired sneakers during this year's NAA Tournament, autographing them and giving lucky fans the chance to win the shoes.
Fans will be able to donate and enter the sweepstakes starting with Friday's Tournament tip off.
The sixth-ranked Cougars, who are seeded No. 2 in the Midwest Region, will face No. 15 seed Cleveland State at 6:15 p.m. (CDT) Friday inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
"March Madness is an exciting time of year for the American Cancer Society and our Coaches vs. Cancer partnership," said Howard Byck, American Cancer Society Senior Vice President of Corporate and Sports Alliances. "Even though the tournament looks slightly different this year, it is always our goal to find compelling new ways to engage our donors and add value to our partnerships. I believe this custom sneaker sweepstakes is a great way to rally fans and yield meaningful results in the fight against cancer."
All proceeds from the entries will benefit the American Cancer Society's life-saving mission to end cancer. People interested in supporting the cause can learn more and donate at letsengage.com/acs.
