Cougars hit three home runs on the day
Houston (7-12) opened the day falling to Kansas City (10-2) by a score of 9-3, before squaring up against No. 1/1 Oklahoma (19-0) for the third time this season. The Sooners took down the Cougars, 9-1, in five innings.
The Cougars connected on three home runs Friday. Senior Sarah Queen and junior Kati Ray Brown each launched their sixth of the season against UMKC, while sophomore Britaney Shaw recorded her second long ball of the year against Oklahoma. Shaw's solo shot snapped the Sooners' 24 scoreless inning streak, dating back to March 6.
KEY INNINGS
1st | Kansas City jumped out to the first lead of the game, scoring five runs off seven hits in the inning.
2nd | After junior Bethany Busch led the inning off with double to left, Brown came up to the plate two batters later and launched a home run to put Houston on the board. The 'Roos responded in the bottom half though, plating another three runs to go up 8-2.
4th | A solo shot from Queen marked her sixth home run of the season.

1st | The top-rated team in the country jumped out to a five-run lead, after a pair of home runs gave the Sooners a 5-0 advantage.
2nd | A couple of two-out singles from Oklahoma scored a pair of runs to push their lead to seven.
4th | Shaw clobbered her second home run of the season with a long shot over the left-centerfield wall to put Houston on the board, snap OU's scoreless inning streak.

Houston concludes its time in Oklahoma City at the Hall of Fame Classic when the Cougars face No. 7/7 Oklahoma State for doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday.
