Houston Set to Face Cincinnati on Senior Night

Cougars seek eighth straight win on Tuesday night
HOUSTON – The University of Houston Women's basketball team puts it seven-game winning streak on the line when it faces Cincinnati on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. inside the Fertitta Center.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early for that game as the Cougars recognize guards Julia Blackshell-Fair and Eryka Sidney in pregame Senior Night ceremonies. Game tickets are available by clicking here. The game can be watched on ESPN+.
The Cougars currently are in third-place in The American standings and 48 in the NET rankings. Houston is the only team in The American with a win over a team that is among the top-25 in the NET rankings. Houston defeated Stephen F. Austin (18) and USF (24).
THE 4-1-1
Fresh off its first win over a ranked opponent since 2010, the Cougars return home for a Senior Night showdown against Cincinnati. Two Cougars are averaging over 10 points per game as Britney Onyeje leads UH with 10.6 points per game, followed by Miya Crump with 10.4 point per game. Tatyana Hill leads UH on the glass, pulling down 5.8 rebounds per game. Dymond Gladney is the assists leader for the Cougars with 59 this season.
Houston is averaging 69.1 points per game on 39.9 percent shooting from the field and a 30.2 percent mark from beyond the 3-point line. The Cougars allow 61.8 points on defense while letting opponents shoot 37.9 percent and 22.9 percent from the field and beyond the arc, respectively.
Under Coach Hughey, Houston has been one of the most active defensive teams in the country over the past two seasons. The Cougars enter the game with 213 steals this season and 78 blocks, forcing 20.80 turnovers per game.
STREAKING IN H-TOWN
The Cougars enter the game with seven consecutive victories dating back to Jan. 23. The Cougars closed out the month of February undefeated. Houston also went undefeated in December with a 4-0 record.
TALL ORDER COMPLETE
With its win against then-No. 13 USF the Cougars snapped a 29-game losing streak to ranked opponents. The Cougars defeated their first ranked opponent since 2010-11 and their first opponent ranked 13th or higher since 2003-04.
BALANCED ATTACK
Seven Cougars are averaging 6.0 or more points per game this season. Four Cougars are among the top-30 scorers in The American this season.
Eight different Cougars have led the team in scoring for at least one game this season.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Cincinnati is in its 3rd season under Head Coach Michelle Clark-Heard. The Bearcats are 6-15 this season and 5-11 in conference play. The Bearcats have won their last two games. IImar'I Thomas leads Cincinnati in every category with 23.6 points per game, 7.7. rebounds and 72 assists this season. The Bearcats average 61.8 points per game on 40.9 percent shooting from the field, including a 25.7 percent mark from the three-point line.

Three times this season UH has forced 30 turnovers by an opponent, This season UH has earned 213 steals and is averaging 10.7 steals per game. Houston is 19th in the NCAA in steals per game and second in the league. When it comes to forcing turnovers, Houston is one of the best, second in the league with 20.80 forced turnovers per game the Cougars are 12th in the NCAA in the category.
DEEPER THAN EVER
With is largest roster in recent years, Houston has more than enough options off the bench. The Houston reserves have done their part, accounting for 421 points this season.
