The American Release

The American recognizes goalkeeper after Wednesday's shutout

HOUSTON - After recording the first shutout of her Cougars career last Wednesday, goalkeeeper Salma Ghazal was named to The American Athletic Conference honor roll, the league announced today.

Ghazal, a transfer from Texas Southern, made four saves in Wednesday's match against UTSA to preserve the scoreless tie and earn the Cougars the draw. Those four saves bring her season total up to six.

Through over 295 minutes this season Ghazal has allowed only two goals.

This is the first conference award for Ghazal and the first for the Cougars this season.

Houston's next scheduled match is against Memphis on March 14.
