Cougars look to start season 2-0 for first time since 2017
HOUSTON – Coming off its season-opening win over Houston Baptist, the University of Houston Soccer team is primed for its contest against Texas Southern at 7 p.m., Wednesday inside the Carl Lewis International Complex.
After opening the spring season taking down the Huskies, 3-1, Houston looks to start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2017.
In matchup with HBU, redshirt junior forward Zionah Browne led the way for the Cougars, having contributed two points with her goal scored and assist.
She was joined by senior midfielder Mia Brascia and junior midfielder Reid Morrison as those who scored goals in the contest. Brascia posted a game-high three shots.
Houston's defense also played a prevalent roll in the win, limiting the Huskies to a total of just three shots on the night, including only one in the second half.
Wednesday's matchup will be Texas Southern's first of the season. The Tigers finished the 2019 campaign 6-11-1 and 5-4-1 in SWAC under then first-year Head Coach Lindsay Vera.
