Houston Hosts Pair of Weekend Contests

Cougars welcome Lamar and Texas Tech to Houston
HOUSTON – Winners of its past three matches, the University of Houston Tennis team returns home to host Lamar at 1 p.m., Friday and Texas Tech at 10 a.m., Sunday inside the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility.
Last time out, the Cougars swept their weekend competitions, taking down Incarnate Word, UTSA and Texas State in three consecutive days to improve Houston's overall record to 4-1 on the year.
Houston's strong weekend came as a result of impressive outings on the singles side, which held a combined record of 15-3. Freshman Gabriela Giraldo led the way for the Cougars, recording the most singles wins on the weekend with her 3-0 record.
Senior Phonexay Chitdara, sophomore Azul Pedemonti and freshman Laura Slisane also completed the weekend undefeated with multiple wins, as each finished 2-0. Chitdara, Sliane and Giraldo each lead the team in singles wins this season with five apiece.
Fans will be able to follow the match in variety of outlets, including live stats and Twitter. Those wishing to attend in person will be required to wear a mask or face covering at all times and remain socially distant from other spectators as outlined by CDC guidelines.
